The RESIDENTS AND THEIR Christmas show

When two of our residents first started developing the idea of a special Christmas play a couple years ago, they had no idea how many others it would bless. The accompanying slideshow provides a look into the inspiring show presented by The BA Players here at The Residences at 910 this Christmas season.

Below are excerpts from the introduction to “The Christmas Story: In Song & Verse” given by Schuyleer Sackett, on December 6, 2018.

“Two years ago one of the residents awoke in the middle of the night. In her dream she heard one of our residents reciting the lines from Hymn 368, “Watchman Tell Us of the Night” from the Christian Science Hymnal. As she lay there thinking about it, the idea of including the audience singing additional Christmas hymns followed.

“The next day she mentioned it to another resident who thought it was a great idea. Together they decided to create a Christmas program. The idea incubated for several weeks. Soon after that, the Christian Science Bible Lesson included the stories of the Nativity with correlative passages from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. It was almost as if the Holy Spirit were saying, “Here is your script.” With the outline of the script in place, the placement of the Christmas hymns came next.

“The two residents approached the Activities Coordinator, and with the support of her enthusiasm, the idea grew into a reality.

“When the BA’s Chief Executive Officer heard about the idea, she suggested the residents hold the event in the Chapel. Soon additional staff members volunteered their technical skills and equipment to bring to life the multimedia production you will see and hear this evening.

“Every aspect of the BA has become involved in some way in this production: residents from The Residences at 910, Christian Science nurses, staff members, Facilities, Dining Services, and you, the audience.”
